Fireplace Doors -
What Are Your Options?
When most of us envision a fireplace, we rarely think about
the different accessories that are available for it. The simple
fact of the matter is, adding one of these or many of these
accessories is going to change the entire look of the fireplace
in some cases. Not only that, a lot of them also provide
functionality for the structure which is going to make it more
usable and in many cases, safer to have burning in the
background. A good example of this is fireplace doors.
Not only are fireplace doors going to be functional, but
there needs to also be some consideration put into the ones
that you decide because many of them tend to be quite
decorative. After all, the last thing that you would want to do
is to have one of the centerpieces of your home decor be out of
place as a result of the fireplace doors that you decided to
use.
Here are several different types of doors that you might
decide to use, each of which will add something different to
the looks and functionality of this important part of your
home.
The first type of fireplace door that we are going to
discuss is typically referred to as a fireplace screen.
Although these are not solid doors, they do provide some
protection from burning embers coming out of the fireplace into
your living area. They do this while still allowing the heat to
come from the fireplace, something that most people find quite
desirable.
These screens can be anywhere from very simple in design to
quite ornate and there is sure to be one that is going to fit
in well with your particular decor. Some of them also hang from
the top of the fireplace hearth while others are freestanding
and simply are placed in front of the hearth.
It is also possible for you to have permanent fireplace
glass doors installed. Although this is easier done whenever
the fireplace is initially being built, it is also possible to
add them later.
One thing that you may want to consider whenever adding this
type of fireplace door is a blower that will push the heat out
into the room, even when the doors are closed. It's a great way
for you to be able to enjoy the looks of your fireplace without
having to worry about it being directly exposed to your living
environment.
